In stormworks, explosions work similarly under water as above it. In real life, an explosive detonated underwater will cause a hydraulic shock, which will damage things way farther away than the explosion itself. The hydraulic shock is useful against submarines as depth charges don't need to be very close to the submarine to damage it. This isn't accounted for in the game, which leaves out a major aspect of submarine warfare, and makes it so that an almost direct hit is needed to cause any damage. This makes dealing with submarines unrealistic and incredibly difficult.
IMPORTANT: i am not asking for just a bigger explosion radius when submerged. A bigger radius with lower damage would be more appropriate, aswell as having the severity depend on depth (the deeper it detonates the severity decreases). Additionally, have the shockwave jostle vessels affected by it (this is already somewhat done as seen in the attached image, but you have to be really close to it). Some unique visuals for it would also be neat but not required.
While depth charges aren't used commonly today, a huge part of the community build things from the era, and having the weapons of the time be actually effective would be really appreciated.
From experience, being depth charged in stormworks is terrifying, and it would be useful if the actual effectiveness of them matched the experience.
depth charge detonated ~5m from submarine, no damage done.
