Multiplayer has fundamentally been killed off by this change. Yeah you can still player host but Big servers cant update and just swapping files doesn't work. Now a bit of common sense here, if other games like Space Engineers need a separate application to run a server plus many other games don't you think than you would need to do the same? (not trying to sound rude but I just wanted to point that out)
I am aware having the two merged might make updating the applications easier but makes it harder for the community to do what it does, share, create, socialise and role-play.
To have the servers impossible to update breaks what I view the core of the game. Not sure how this change was expected to work. We essentially have to buy the game again in order to host servers and have a separate steam account to do so.
Another thing is the fact; People have tried to update these servers Swapping the files running a .bat or whatever to update via SteamCMD but all that doesn't work, I am not entirely sure what how this was expected to work but it sure hasn't.
I myself am retired from server hosting but I do really care about the game considering I put 8,000 + hours into it and about 1 year of server hosting as well making new friends because of the game.
And if you did have a reason what was the reason for the change??
