Stirling Engines would be a nice feature as they are compact and can run underwater, nuclear reactors are too bulky and diesel electric is rather uneffective.

Simple solution: use electric furnace plus steam boilers.
No fuel, no air, only fresh water and electricity
(I've been using it since I discovered it, it works really well)
