When at 8000m from an enemy ship, if you fire a torpedo it will not try to evade it.
When the torpedo hit, if the ship is only damaged, it will still not try to do anything, it will still stay still waiting for the second torpedo.
When the torpedo hit, if the ship is only damaged, it will not sound any alarm, other ships will remain motionless, planes will not take off, ground units will stay motionless or keep to their original patrol.
That's only the biggest problem.
Most of the AI units are unresponsive.
A damaged walrus will not try to look for cover, it will not warn others around it, there's no alarm of any kind.
Even ants will become frantic when they see their friends get killed in front of them, but AI units in Carrier Command 2 will remain perfectly calm and do as usual: nothing.
When you arrive to an island, it's like firing at sitting ducks, most targets will not move until destroyed, and the ones who are moving are doing it mostly erratically.
They start to make a little sense when you're so close they can actually see you.
The only half-exception are the planes, they will take off and attack when you're at mid-range.
The expected behavior would be:
- Ships should be patrolling around the island, and not be sitting still (note that one or 2 may sit still, but not all of them)
- Albatross should be patrolling (especially when there are 2 of them, one should be in air while the other is refueling)
- Ships should try to evade torpedoes when they detect them
- When damaged, an unit should sound the alarm
- When the alarm is sounded, units should start a coordinated search pattern to locate the source of the attack
- When the source of the attack is detected, the units should start a coordinated attack (which may begin with a coordinated retreat to gather the forces and then launch the coordinated attack)
- If the attack is from the air, and the AI has no dedicated AA units, then it should cluster its ground units (not to close to avoid all of them being destroyed by one bomb or cruise missile, but close enough so that any air unit going over them will get fired at by many units, hoping that it will be enough to destroy it)
- If the attack is coming from the carrier, the ground units should cluster (as before, not to close to avoid being destroyed in one shot) and attack the carrier, in the hope of inflicting some damage before being wiped out
- More in general, basic tactics should be implemented depending on the available forces and the type of the invasion force (preferably at least 2-3 different ones to avoid the AI doing always the same thing over and over again)
